Scramblers has seen a variety of mums, carers,
grandparents, a few dads and wonderful group
of babies, toddlers, pre-schoolers and even
the odd older brother or sister come through
the great oak doors and head for the toys in
the children’s corner…
That’s the way we always begin….and
we move on to the bell chamber, to a ring of
the bell, just short of a campanologist’s
nightmare… with all the children holding
the rope, and then to the lady chapel where
we sing a welcome, blow recorders, trumpets
and beat drummers (as the psalmists tell us
to) and then we have a story.
After a prayer and a blessing of everyone,
we take a good deal of puff to blow out the
candles, and go to the back of the church for
a craft, art and colouring session while the
grown ups drink tea and chat (and help a bit
if we can’t manage) and that’s it
till next time…it’s back into buggies,
pushers and prams, off to collect brothers and
sisters from school or home for tea…
